Hello. My name is Josh Douglas. I am a firefighter, paramedic, and web developer.
I created this website to showcase my background, characteristic traits, and technical abilities. I am self-taught in web development and felt that this is a unique and memorable way to present information about myself in pursuit of moving forwards in my career as a firefighter. This webpage serves as an example of my ambition, motivation, and desire to learn and apply new skills.
Growing up, I was lucky enough to have a close bond with my older brother. He was born with special needs and is non-verbal. This experience taught me a lot about patience, empathy, and altruism. I grew up with an enjoyment of learning, physical activity, and mechanics. All roads have led me to the fire service and I feel very fortunate to have such a rewarding job.
I have worked as a firefighter and paramedic in environments that have enabled me to continue learning, improve my skills, and be self-motivated. I have been fortunate to have many mentors. Consequently, it has become a passion and goal of mine to continue the cycle of teaching others and share what I have learned in my career thus far.
Over the years my interests have broadened. I gravitate towards hobbies that are challenging, mentally stimulating, and socially oriented. Some of these interests would include hobbies such as running, cooking, hiking, reading, and sports. As much as this job is rewarding, it is also satisfying to work in a career with such a large melting pot of individuals. The unique personalities and opportunities to bond with coworkers are what make this job so special to me.
